Why tho?

Because i wanted to try it out.

I mean, what can one do with it?

If it’s just for “cuz I can”, that’s valid too. Just curious.

Because I can

Now you can also run Mac os 7.5.5 software on it.

That also means you can install all games made for 7.5.5 and play them on the vita

I got Photoshop 3.0.5 to run on it. It did take 15 minutes to install.

I have no idea if there is any usage to it.

Here you can search what games are available for those interested:

Check out Macintosh Garden, too.

Is it a separate app or do you install it as OS?

It's an operating system running from a disk image within the emulator Basilisk II, which is an app that you run on the Vita. It doesn't replace the Vita's OS, if that's what you are asking.

Basically it's like wine or a virtual machine.

Is it possible to dual-boot.

Yes, it is

Download the 8.1 dsk file https://archive.org/download/macos755_202405/MacOS81.dsk

And the rom file https://archive.org/download/macos755_202405/Quadra-650.rom

Copy MacOS81.dsk to ux0:data/BasiliskII/hardfiles and Quadra-650.rom to ux0:data/BasiliskII/roms

Start BasiliskII go to Memory/Misc and set Model ID to Quadra 900 (MacOS 8.x)

Press ROM file and select Quadra-650.rom

Go back and go to Volumes

Press File: ux0:data/BasiliskII/hardfiles/macos755.disk and select MacOS81.dsk

Go back and press o to start mac os 8.1

I wonder if it can run an old version of ableton.

Unfortunately it cannot run ableton as it came out in 2001 and needs osx 10.2 to run.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ableton_Live

But is should be able to run a bunch of other audio software.

But can you play Marathon?

I tried it.

I couldn't mount the 7.5.5 image in File, no file selector comes up... I can mount it in Floppy Disk; not sure if a ~160MB floppy disk is right, but it boots....

This is too much... aren't community satisfied with running 2d like RM2003 and retroarch... what's next? Win.NT?

I tried to install win 95 using a port of ms dos but msdos just didn't respond to the button inputs.
